The GCMS-QP2010 Ultra is our most advanced gas chromatograph mass spectrometer. Descended from the GCMS-QP2010 Plus, it features
best-in-class scan speed and sensitivity. A newly designed and patented technology called ASSP™ (Advanced Scan Speed Protocol) allows this GC-MS to scan at 20,000 u/sec without sensitivity loss or spectral distortion. This improved data collection speed makes this the perfect instrument for Fast GC or comprehensive GC/MS (GCxGCMSq) analyses. Lab productivity and sample throughput are automatically increased. Ecology mode saves power and carrier gas consumption allowing for a lower cost of ownership and less environmental stress.

High-Sensitivity Ion Source

Provides an ion optics system with high transport efficiency and achieves temperature homogenization of the ion source box.

High-sensitivity analysis of chlorpyrifos-methyl (5ppb)
The effect of filament potential on the ion source is reduced by placing more distance between the filament and ion source box, and installing a shield plate. The result is that generated ions are transported more efficiently to the MS. In addition, filament shielding protects thermally labile compounds.

Overdrive Lens
(Noise Elimination Technology)

Correlation between applied voltage to the overdrive lens and S/N
The installation of an overdrive lens, in front of the electron multiplier, has reduced the random noise that occurs with ion transmission, improving the S/N ratio. Through the application of a voltage to the lens, the noise component in the vicinity of the lens is reduced, and the effect of focusing ions from the mass filter improves the S/N ratio. Increased Sensitivity in High-Speed Scanning

Equipped with High-Speed Data Acquisition and Processing Via the Newly Developed ASSP™ Function

The relatively slow scan speeds of conventional GC-MS systems have proven to be a limiting factor when adapting the techniques of "Fast GC" or comprehensive GCxGC to the GC-MS platform. Data acquisition speeds of 30Hz or less and 10,000 u/sec are too slow to provide enough points across an ultra-sharp fast GC or GCxGC peak for reliable quantitation. New technology in mass spectrometry has been developed which allows us to increase the scan speed of our GC-MS system. This technology, called ASSP™, is the key to faster data acquisition. Equipped in the new GCMS-QP2010 Ultra, it is a firmware protocol that optimizes the ion transmission hardware parameters with a highly efficient data collection algorithm, allowing acquisition speeds of 20,000 u/sec and 100Hz. The ASSP™ provides the added benefit of maintaining system sensitivity at elevated scan speeds. (Patent:US6610979)

Variation of chromatogram intensity at each scan speed

ASSP™ optimizes the ion transmission optics to maintain ion signal intensity across the entire mass range as the scan speed of the system increases.

High Sensitivity and High-Speed Scanning

TIC of Fast GC/MS at 10,000u/sec
Fast GC/MS analysis is performed using ultra narrow-bore capillary columns at higher head pressures. The resulting peaks are very sharp and elute very quickly. To fully define these peaks, 10 to 20 points are needed. In some cases, data collection at the conventional rate of between 10 and 30Hz is inadequate. The GCMS-QP2010 Ultra provides the solution with a 20,000 u/sec scan rate and 100Hz collection and processing speed.

Improved Sensitivity

Similarity search of mass spectrum obtained at 10,000u/sec
In high-speed scan analysis, the sensitivity may decrease as the m/z value increases. The ASSP™ function, by acting to minimize these drops in sensitivity, results in a GC-MS that achieves much greater sensitivity than conventional instruments.

Mass Spectrum Pattern

In high-speed scan analysis, the sensitivity may decrease as the m/z value increases. The ASSP™ function, by acting to minimize these drops in sensitivity, results in a GC-MS that achieves much greater sensitivity than conventional instruments.
